Relay for Life needs help reaching $1 Million Milestone
This year’s Relay For Life of Washington County “Dancing in the Street” is going to be June 15 from noon to midnight at Central Park in Washington. Gather friends, family and coworkers for a day of fun, to reflect on those who have battled cancer, and to show support to those who currently have cancer. There are going to be various activities and socializing all day. This year — with the community’s help — Washington County will reach the $1 Million Milestone.
Now is the time to register teams — any number of people qualify. There is a registration fee. Advanced registration is appreciated so people can learn of all of the ways they can be part of this year’s Relay.
Also, cancer survivors who would like to participate in the event are encouraged to contact Relay by May 1, so they can honor survivors with a purple shirt.
If businesses or organizations would like someone to come for a visit or to donate to the event contact Relay. Luminary bags are available now at the Washington Public Library to purchase or to take home and decorate.
Again this year, there will be a dessert auction. All bakers are encouraged to bake their specialty pies, cookies, cakes, etc. (No soft pies/cheesecakes/cream cheese frosting items will be accepted.) Relay will be accepting gift certificates this year if there are people wanting to do that route. Bring to the Senior Center from 8 to 10 a.m. the day of the Relay to be auctioned off starting at 4 p.m. For more information, please call Ruchel Hiller at 319-461-0872 or Craig Rembold at 319-461-0745.
Sign up a team, as a survivor or learn more about Relay For Life by contacting Joni McArtor or Alberta Miller at 653-6367, <email@example.com> or PO Box 672 Washington, IA 52353.
