Scouts gather food donations
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts collected 2,560 food items from the community on Saturday. This was 700 items more than last year. Some of the items will be used for the Saturday Kitchen and some will be given to the WACO Elementary School for their Friday take-home meals. However, the majority of the food was taken to IC Compassion and the Community of Hope Center here in Washington. The food pantry is well stock and the staff there wishes to let the community know they are open on Monday nights from 4 to 7:30. All are welcome, specifically the veterans who may not be getting benefits with the government shutdown. The food pantry is located at the corner of 15th street and Fifth Avenue. Contact person is Rochelle Miller at 461-7325.
