SEC wrestling All-Conference Team named
Nine Washington High School wrestlers were named to the Southeast Conference All-Conference Team. Five others were named to the Academic All-Conference Team.
Freshman Kyle Anderson, senior Fletcher Green, senior Tanner Knupp and junior Brad Skubal were all named to the first team. Freshman Andrew Waite, freshman Trey Van Weelden, senior Tristan Pohren, sophomore Jarek Brown and junior Alex Gonzalez were named to the second team.
Anderson finished his season with a record of 37 – 10 and took eighth place in the Class 2A 113-pound state tournament. Green’s record for his senior season was 42 – 3 and he also finished in eighth place at the Class 2A state tournament at 120 pounds. Knupp’s final tally for his senior season was 24 – 6. Skubal placed seventh at the Class 2A state tournament at 182 pounds and finished with a record of 39 – 8.
Waite qualified for the Class 2A state tournament at 106 pounds and finished with a record of 27 – 15. Van Weelden’s final record was 24 – 9. Pohren finished with a record of 43 – 7 and qualified for the state tournament. Brown’s final record this past season was26 – 16 and Gonzalez’s was 28 – 18.
Knupp was also given academic honors. The others listed on the academic list were manager Kaitlin Hora, manager Chayse Jaspering, cheerleader Madeline Hora, cheerleader Stephanie Loy and cheerleader Caitlin Moravec.
The academic honors were given out to all involved students with a GPA of at least 3.25.
