Shutdown not affecting passport services

Oct 01, 2013

At this time the federal government shutdown is not affecting passport services. The Washington County Recorder’s office will continue to accept passport applications from customers unless otherwise advised by the U.S. Department of State. In the event of a lapse in appropriations, the Department will continue passport and visa operations.

Processing times for passport applications will remain at four weeks or less for routine service and two weeks door-to-door for expedited service.

For updates to the situation please check the National Passport Web site at <www.travel.state.gov> or call the Washington County Recorder’s office at 319-653-7727.
