Softball postseason begins tonight
Iowa Mennonite School will kick off the postseason for area teams on Monday night.
IMS will take on Winfield-Mt. Union at home for the first round of districts beginning at 7 p.m.
The two teams met at the beginning of the season with IMS picking up the 12-1 victory in five innings.
Pitcher Rachel Miller allowed three hits in the game, while offensively, Iowa Mennonite was led by Demi Brezina (3-for-3 with three runs and a stolen base) and McKayla Brush (1-for-3, 2 RBIs).
Keota will open up their playoffs at HLV.
HLV won both contests this season between the two teams, picking up 12-0 and 11-0 victories over Keota.
That game will begin at 7 p.m.
Mid-Prairie softball will open its district action at home against Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The Golden Hawks are 22-10 on the season, and won eight of the last nine coming into the playoffs. Louisa-Muscatine is currenty 8-18 overall.
Columbus will also be in action with a home playoff game against Danville at 7 p.m., and come into Tuesday night’s game on a four-game losing skid. Danville has lost nine of its last 11 games.
