Strong second half lifts Washington JV girls over Ottumwa
Washington and Ottumwa were tied at halftime of Saturday’s junior varsity girls’ basketball game, but the Demons held the visiting Bulldogs to just six points in the second half as they went on to win 41-25.
“We had a great second half defensively,” Washington head coach Jay Zieglowsky said. “The third quarter was big for us. The full-court press was finally effective and we went on a little bit of a run there.”
Junior Grace Redlinger scored eight points and had four steals to lead Washington (2-0). Sophomore Dylann Schluetter added six points and three steals. Sophomores Jordan Stout and Sydney Hoffman both scored five points, and Stout also pulled down four rebounds. Junior Addie Shive, sophomore Macy Marek and freshman Brenna DeLong chipped in four points apiece. Sophomore Makenna Goodwin grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
