Students to discuss daily life abroad
Electronic communication, cheap travel, and social media make the world seem small, but daily life in a different culture remains a challenge. JPOG (Just Peace Outreach Group) has invited college students David Yoder, Jacob Yoder and Brian Miller to describe their observations after living for three months in Guatemala, Peru and the Netherlands. Three different countries, three different colleges and three different educational programs provide a rich variety of experiences and observations.
With special attention to peace and justice issues, the speakers will describe the challenges they faced and the lessons they learned while living in a different culture and participating in the daily life of their hosts. Join them on Sunday evening, June 9, at Washington Mennonite Church, 815 Polk St. in Washington at 6 p.m. for a finger-foods potluck and conversation (table service not provided) or at 7 p.m. to hear the student presentation.
