The way to peace and rest in troubled time
"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Sometimes this seems like a very hard thing to do considering the things that are taking place around us and in the world as a whole. The wars, the civil unrest, the shootings and acts of violence that seem to be in every day that we live, in the political arena that is going on now, the financial crisis that we face as a nation and one that the whole world is going through or facing, beside the rise of natural disasters that seem to be very much on the increase. One very important thing to keep in mind is that these things have not or do not take God, the Creator of all things, by surprise. In the Bible, He brings these things to our attention when it says, "that in the last days, perilous times" will come. We cannot deny the fact that we are living in perilous times. But, the same God, the One and only true God, has given us hope and promise through His Word and through the Lord Jesus Christ.
God's provision for us is in the words of the Lord Jesus Christ who said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." In another place, the Bible says, "Cast all your cares upon him for He cares for you." These are just a couple of the many verses in the Bible that God gives to us, that we can have peace and rest in the troubled times that we go through.
There is an older song that shows the way for us to have access to God and find the hope and the blessings that God has for us. The name of it is "Just a Little Talk with Jesus." The reality of God's love is, "I once was lost in sin, but Jesus took me in." He is there for each and every one of us if we will just reach out to him. After this, the song says, "a little light from heaven filled my soul and it bathed my heart in love." It goes on to say that sometimes the paths of life that we walk may be heavy and the doubts and fears come upon us, and sometimes are filled with tears, these are realities in life which we all face at some time or other but just remember, God loves you, cares about you and is there for you. Just come to Him in prayer and just a little talk with Jesus will make all the difference in the world.
Prayer can and does make a difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us. It can make a difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us. I think especially about this year and the upcoming elections and the problems we face as a nation that we all should take time and have a little talk with Jesus. The Bible says that men should always pray. When we do that, in faith believing, then we are going to see that this is the day that the Lord has made and we can rejoice and be glad in it.
