Three arrested after group fight
Three men were arrested Wednesday morning after the Washington County Communications Center received reports of several people fighting in the 400 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington.
Keenan Darnell Alexander, 24, of Washington, is charged with interference with official acts. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65. Raymond Matias, 28, of Washington, was charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. Jeremy Tyshawn Shine, 24, of Brighton, was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and interference with official acts. Both have pleaded not guilty and a hearing is set for Jan. 7.
According to a press release from the Washington County Communications Center, at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, several male and female subjects were reported in a physical altercation.
“There was a call of a large fight,” Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman said. “They arrested three people out of the incident. None of our guys were hurt. One of the subjects was taken to the hospital because he was going unconscious, but I think he was released. I don’t think that was a legitimate issue.”
Court records said that Matias had appeared to pass out a few times. He was checked out by the Washington County Hospital and released. The document said the officer believed he was faking.
Goodman said that he didn’t know what had caused the fight in the first place. He is also unsure of how many people were involved in the fight, but said that there were at least five. The records show none of the subjects were willing to say what had precipitated the fight.
