Tuesday Coffee Club
The Tuesday Coffee Club met at the community center on Nov. 19 with 14 members present.
Hostess Annagrace Goeke served refreshments, assisted by Bess Llewellyn. Chairwoman Vivian Griffith was welcomed back and presided at the meeting. There was no new business to discuss. A vase of roses was presented to Sandy Weller in appreciation of her service as chair during the past year.
The social part of the meeting began with each member being asked if she had special plans for Thanksgiving. Most will spend it with family.
Bess Llewellyn introduced the topic of changes in technology, and it became a trip down memory lane as members related experiences with party-line and dial telephones, washing machines with wringers and hanging the wash outside to dry. Cars with improvements like heaters and air conditioning and GPS systems were welcomed; but one account told of an old car with so little horsepower that it had to get a running start to climb a hill. In keeping with the theme, Annagrace read “Ice Cream,” “Tramps” and “End of an Era.”
The next meeting will be held Dec. 3 at the community center and will be a potluck luncheon. Jean Cousins will be hostess.
