Tuesday Coffee Club
Pedro Lujano, glass artist, entertained and educated the Tuesday Coffee Club, Nov. 6, as they met at the public library.
Lujano is the creator of the stained glass panel in the lobby of the library titled "The Essence of the World." He gave personal background information of his coming to the United States from Mexico and his training and experience with colored glass. He projected pictures on the screen showing examples of his art in jewelry, bowls, murals and restoration and replication. He showed a series in the creation of the library panel, beginning with the design process, selection of glass and through to completion of the project.
The business meeting followed the program with chairman Sandy Weller presiding and opening with prayer.
The minutes were read and approved and the treasurer's report given. Sixteen members answered roll call telling plans for Thanksgiving Day. Sandy read a short story by O'Henry titled "Two Thanksgiving Dinners."
The main item of business was the question of reorganization. Rose Mary Worley gave details of her suggested plan to reorganize as opposed to continuing the current situation. Discussion followed and the vote revealed 9 to 5 in favor of continuing the present long-running organization.
It was also voted to continue with the voluntary plan of each member donating $5 to the community center instead of having a gift exchange for Christmas. This will be done at the first meeting in December.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 20, at the community center and will be a film of their trip to Europe presented by Leonard Goeke, husband of member Annagrace Goeke.
The members were joined by artist Lujano as they enjoyed coffee and cupcakes provided by hostesses Annagrace Goeke and Bess Llewellyn.
