Vittetoe receives MCC selection
The Midwest Collegiate Conference released its list of softball All-Conference players on Sunday, May 4. Two players from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines were selected, including Lauren Vittetoe of Washington.
Vittetoe earned Honorable-Mention All-Conference honors as she had 25 hits on the season, including six doubles. Her slugging percentage was 0.405, while her on base percentage was 0.417 as she played first base for AIB, which went 7 – 35 in its first season of competitive softball.
Eagle head coach Kim Wright-Jones had this to say about the sophomore, “Lauren was one of our most consistent players this season. Both offensively and defensively, she made plays and got hits when we needed them. She is a fierce competitor and not only led the team in hitting, but also in being hit by pitches. Lauren is an outstanding student so her body of work on the field and in the classroom represents our program well. It will be exciting to see what Lauren will bring in our second season of competition.”
Vittetoe is a 2012 graduate of Washington High School. She is the daughter of Don and Alicia Vittetoe of Washington.
