WACO baseball falls to W-MU
The Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team pounded the ball at the plate and took advantage of wild pitches and fielding mishaps for a four-inning, 20-0 victory over WACO on Monday.
The Wolves posted 12 runs on the board in the first inning of their home game and added eight in the second.
Meanwhile, hurler Garret Baker and the W-MU defense held WACO scoreless in the contest. Baker allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine in four innings
Anthony Campbell had the only hit for the Warriors in the game.
For W-MU, Sam Jennings was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in.
Darren Hunter also went 3-for-3 on the night and had a double and an RBI.
Kyle Davis was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and two runs batted in, while Matthew Niebuhr was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Tyler Reiman knocked in two runs; Ross Vantiger and Christian Fenton each had one RBI on the night.
W-MU is now 4-2 on the season and improves to 3-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Divison.
The Wolves play tonight (Tuesday) at Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona before returning home for games on Thursday and Friday against Lone Tree and Highland, respectively.
WACO (0-4) will play at Lone Tree tonight and host Wapello on Thursday.
