WACO community CROP drive begins
This year’s CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Drive will officially begin on Sunday, Sept. 28. Committee members will present kickoff encouragement at local churches.
This year’s goal has been set at $33,500 with money going to Church World Missions, the organization that oversees CROP. Donated funds help overcome poverty wherever the need is greatest. This year, the WACO CROP committee has chosen to use donations for close-to-home needs such as areas in the United States that have been affected by floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters, or those most in need of food, shelter, clothing and clean water.
The motto, “Providing enough for all,” has captured the hearts of donors who give through their pocketbooks as well as commodities of crops or livestock. In 2012 the WACO C.R.O.P Drive achieved first place out of 79 CROP events in Iowa, bringing in donations totaling $39,305.61 in cash and commodities!
This year’s CROP Drive will continue through Nov. 1. For more information, call 319-256-5463.
