Warriors miss chances in loss at Lynnville-Sully
SULLY — WACO gained more yards in Wednesday’s Class A first-round playoff game than ninth-ranked Lynnville-Sully did, but the Warriors struggled to finish drives in the 28-8 loss to the Hawks.
WACO (6-4) had four drives into Lynnville-Sully territory end on interceptions or a turnovers on downs. Three Warrior passes were intercepted in the contest.
Lynnville-Sully junior Camden Doll ran for touchdowns of 55 and 2 yards in the first quarter as the Hawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Juniors Bailee Samson and Daniel Zimmerman added touchdown runs in the second quarter as Lynnville-Sully (8-2) extended its lead to 28-0 by halftime.
Senior Tyler Ayers, who rushed for 167 yards on 39 carries in the contests, capped WACO’s lone scoring drive with a 1-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. Sophomore Tucker Janecek added 47 yards rushing on 13 carries, and junior Dylon Carlson ran for 30 yards on three attempts.
