Washington 8th-grade boys compete in invitational
OTTUMWA – The Washington Middle School eighth-grade track and field team competed in the Evans Invitational on Tuesday, April 22.
Washington placed third out of seven teams with 103 points.
First place finishes for Washington included Mark Engelken’s throw of 112 feet, 4 inches in the discus. Washington (Matt Roder, Tanner Murphy, Jack Redlinger and Ryan Reighard) won the 4x200-meter relay in 1:46.79. Myers took first place in the 200-meter dash in 25.53.
Washington (Redlinger, Murphy, Myers and Reighard) also won the sprint medley in 1:53.31 and the 4x100-meter relay (Reighard, Murphy, Matt Roder and Myers) in 50.88.
Myers placed second in the long jump at 16-3 ½. In the shuttle hurdle relay, Washington (Cole Dallmeyer, Roder, Mario Tapia and Kyle Fishback) took second in 1:11.57. The distance medley team (Jacob Von Osdol, Redlinger, Fishback and Kiowa Keith) was second in 2:38.72.
Fishback took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.9. Reighard had a fourth-place leap of 14-10 ½ in the long jump. Mitchell Huisenga was fifth in the shot put at 32-6 ½.
Dallmeyer took sixth place in the 200-meter hurdles in 31.59. Collin Murphy was sixth in the shot put at 32-2. Von Osdol finished sixth in the 200 in 28.34.
