Washington bowlers compete in SEC tourney
WASHINGTON – The Washington High School boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the Southeast Iowa Conference Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Lebowski’s.
For the boys, freshman Collin Zear had the high score of the first round. In Zear’s second game he bowled a 148. That helped Zear also get the individual high for the Demon boys for Round 1 with his two-game total of 273. After the first round the Washington boys had a score of 1,148 and were in fourth place.
The Demon boys’ second-round total of 728 wasn’t enough for them to make up any ground and the boys placed fourth with their final score of 1,912.
In the girls’ competition, junior Ivy Hamilton had the high score of the first round for Washington. Hamilton bowled a 164 in her second game. Junior Jessica Londberg had the individual high for the Demon girls for Round 1 with her two-game total of 321. After the first round the Washington girls had a score of 1,458 and were in fourth place.
The Demon girls totaled 808 in the second round which gave them a final score of 2,266, good for third place. Londberg was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
