Washington boys selected for All-Conference honors
Six members of the Washington High School boys’ basketball team were named to the Southeast Conference’s All-Conference or Academic All-Conference teams.
Junior Thomas Bump was named to the first team. Bump finished the season leading the Demons in total points scored (282), average points scored per game (12.8), field goals made (105), field goal attempts (248), 3-point attempts (98) and 3-point shots made (32), free-throw attempts (76) and free-throws made (40). His 3-point percentage of 32.7 was second on the team.
Bump was third on the team in offensive rebounds (40), second in defensive rebounds (49) and third in total rebounds (89). Bump also led the team in assists (58), steals (32) and tied for the team lead in blocks with three.
A strong argument could be made that Bump was the team MVP this past season. He scored 24 percent of the team’s points, grabbed 15 percent of the rebounds, made 24 percent of the assists, accounted for 20 percent of the team’s steal total and registered 25 percent of Washington’s blocked shots.
Senior Mason Quigley, junior Gage Redlinger, junior Daryn Sebelius, junior Blake Weidman and junior Grant Marek were all named to the Academic All-Conference team.
The first team was chosen by the conference’s coaches and the academic team is all cheerleaders, managers and players with a GPA of at least 3.25.
