Washington eighth-grade boys win a pair of games at WACO
WAYLAND — The Washington eighth-grade boys’ basketball team won a pair of games at WACO on Tuesday night.
The Demon A team defeated WACO’s eighth-grade squad 32-25. Bryce Sinn scored nine points to lead Washington (2-0), and he also had eight rebounds and three steals. Noah Enfield added six points, two rebounds and a steal, and Mason Rich had five points and a rebound. Michael Gier had four points, four rebounds and a steal in the contest, and John Dillon had four points, two steals, a rebound and an assist. Drake Brezina had two points to go with four rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Ryan Loy chipped in two points and a steal. Tanner Coleman had three assists, a steal and a rebound in the game.
“We struggled at times to run our offense effectively, but played with good effort at the end with some key defensive stops and hustle on offense,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said. “It was a good learning experience and a good team win.”
The Washington B and C squads combined to defeat WACO’s seventh-grade team 23-18. Aaron Vittetoe scored 15 of Washington’s 23 points, and he also had six rebounds, two assists and a steal. John Sands added four points, two rebounds and a steal for the Demons (2-0). Michael Dillon had two points to go with six rebounds, two steals and an assist, and Matthew Wheeler had two points, three rebounds and a steal. Reid Basten had a pair of rebounds in the contest, while Dylan Kinman, Joey Diedrich and Jack Carter each had one. Basten and David Mares both had a steal.
“We did a very good job of getting the ball inside and taking the ball to the basket,” Berhow said. “They hustled in the second half to protect the lead and played under control at the end of the game.”
The Washington eighth-grade boys’ basketball team will host Edward Stone tonight at 4:30 p.m. and then host Fairfield on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
