Washington eighth-grade boys win two games over Fort Madison
The Washington eighth-grade boys’ basketball team won a pair of games over visiting Fort Madison on Thursday.
The Demon A team edged the Bloodhounds 39-36. Drake Brezina and Bryce Sinn both scored eight points to lead Washington (5-2). Sinn also pulled down four rebounds, and Brezina had three. John Dillon added seven points, four rebounds, four steals and an assist. Mason Rich and Tanner Coleman scored five points apiece. Rich also had two rebounds and two assists in the contest, and Coleman grabbed a rebound. Michael Gier contributed four points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists, while Collin Zear chipped in two points and two rebounds. Noah Enfield had a rebound and a steal in the game.
“Once again we had very balanced scoring, which makes our players a challenge to guard,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said.
The Washington B team defeated Fort Madison 29-25. Ryan Loy led the Demons (6-1) with 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and an assist. Michael Dillon, Matthew Wheeler, John Sands and Aaron Vittetoe added four points apiece. Vittetoe also had eight rebounds and two steals in the contest, and Dillon had three boards and a theft. Sands had two rebounds, two assists and a steal, while Wheeler had a rebound and a theft. Dylan Kinman chipped in two points, three rebounds and a steal, and Jack Carter also had a steal in the game.
“We held onto the lead at the end and showed good patience with the ball,” Berhow said.
