Washington girls fall at Grinnell
GRINNELL – The Washington High School girls’ varsity basketball team suffered a season-ending defeat in the second round of regional tournament play on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the hands of the Grinnell Tigers.
The Demons got off to a slow start offensively, scoring only 12 points through the first half. While Washington would go on to outscore the Tigers 26 – 22 in the second half, the 31 – 12 halftime deficit was still too large to be overcame.
Senior Dema Giardino led the Demons with 14 points. Sophomore Amber Salow chipped in nine points and senior Grace Redlinger added eight points. Senior Stephanie Fishback, junior Dylann Schluetter and sophomore Addie Pacha all contributed two points. Sophomore Morgan Kimball completed the scoring with her point. Washington finishes the season at 15 – 8.
