Washington girls take second in triangular at Pella
PELLA – The Washington girls’ golf team competed in a non-conference triangular with the Ottumwa Bulldogs and Pella Dutch last night.
The Demons placed second out of the three teams with their score of 196, falling by 11 strokes to the Bulldogs’ 185. The Dutch finished at 198.
Junior Sarah Waite got her second consecutive meet medalist honor with her nine-hole score of 43. Senior Megan Buitendorp and sophomore Deanna Peiffer both shot a 49. Senior Maddie Hora and sophomore Brenna Burlingame both had a 55. Freshman Brenna Weidman completed the Washington scoring with her 59.
“It was a great competitive match with all three teams scoring under 200. Sarah Waite is really playing very well right now. Deanna Peiffer shot a good round. She had a rocky start but showed great resolve. None of our girls had ever played the course before and we found it to be a challenging venue. We played well, though. We’re going to keep working on what we need to work on and hope for an even lower score the next time out,” Washington head coach Leonard Kull said.
The Washington girls’ team will hit the links again on Monday, April 28 at Pleasant Valley in Iowa City in a non-conference quadrangular.
