Washington seventh-grade boys sweep Ottumwa
OTTUMWA — The Washington seventh-grade boys’ basketball team won all three of its games at Ottumwa on Tuesday night.
The Demon A team blew out the Bulldogs 48-28.
“We worked well as a team and took good shots at the basket within our offense,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said.
Jaivonn Willis had a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Washington (4-2). Zeb Roos added nine points, while Dalton Meyers and Jack Redlinger added eight points apiece. Blake Hartzler chipped in four points, and Mitchell Huisenga had three points to go with 10 rebounds. Meyers pulled down four rebounds, and Hartzler had two.
The Washington B team edged Ottumwa 15-14.
“They worked hard all the way to the end to protect the win,” Berhow said.
Cale Hobscheidt scored four points to lead the Demons (4-2), who had a balanced offensive performance. Thomas Zimmer added three points, while Mason Letts, Landon Hinkley, Brennan Horak and Jacob Van Osdol chipped in two points apiece. Hobscheidt pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Hinkley and Van Osdol had three apiece. Zimmer had a pair of rebounds. Letts, Horak and Sam Donnolly chipped in one each.
The Washington C team blew out the Bulldogs 19-3. Letts and Eric Sanchez scored six points apiece to lead the Demons (5-1). John Lisauskas added four points, and Zimmer had three. Sanchez had a team-high four rebounds, and Mario Tapia had three. Lisauskas, Zimmer, Letts and Caleb Woodson each chipped in a rebound.
The Washington seventh-grade boys’ basketball team will face Ottumwa again next Tuesday, when they host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. at the high school auxiliary gym.
