Washington seventh-grade boys take two of three from Mt. Pleasant
The Washington seventh-grade boys’ basketball team won two of three games, including an overtime thriller in the B game, over visiting Mt. Pleasant on Dec. 13.
The Demon A team lost to the rival Panthers 53-38. Jack Redlinger scored 13 points to lead Washington (7-3), and he also had two assists and two rebounds. Mitchell Huisenga added 12 points and six rebounds. Blake Hartzler contributed six points and two rebounds, and Dalton Myers had five points, five rebounds and four assists. Jacob Van Osdol chipped in three points and an assist, and Zeb Roos also had an assist. Kyle Fishback grabbed a rebound.
“I was proud of how our team battled and worked hard in the second half to the final play,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said. “We didn’t give up. That is a valued quality of this team.”
Washington Cale Hobscheidt hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to tie the B game, and Matt Roder made a 3-pointer in overtime to lift the Demons to a 27-26 win over the Panthers. Hobscheidt finished with 10 points to lead Washington (6-4), and he also grabbed four rebounds. Roder added nine points and six rebounds. Brennan Horak scored four points. Jameson Bell and Mason Letts both chipped in two points and a pair of rebounds, and Thomas Zimmer grabbed three boards.
The Washington C team blew out Mt. Pleasant 41-16. Bell scored 15 points to lead the Demons (8-2), and he also grabbed two rebounds. Letts added eight points and two boards, and Roder had six points and five rebounds. Zimmer had four points and two rebounds, and Sam Donnolly had four points and a rebound. Landon Hinkley chipped in two points and three rebounds, and Adrian Venegas also scored two points. Caleb Woodson grabbed a rebound.
