Washington seventh-grade boys win one of three at Edward Stone
BURLINGTON — The Washington seventh-grade boys’ basketball team won one of three games at Edward Stone Middle School on Tuesday night.
Edward Stone edged Washington 39-37 in the A game, with one player scoring 35 points for the host team. Jaivonn Willis had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Demons (1-1). Dalton Meyers added eight points and eight rebounds, and Jack Redlinger also scored eight points. Zeb Roos, Blake Hartzler and Jacob Von Osdol chipped in two points apiece, and Hartzler grabbed three rebounds.
“We played well with a balanced attack,” Washington head coach Mark Berhow said. “We showed improvement in transition, but we need to improve handling the ball when we have a lead.”
The Washington B team defeated Edward Stone 20-16. Mason Letts, Cale Hobscheidt, Thomas Zimmer and Van Osdol scored four points apiece for the Demons (2-0), while Jameson Bell and Landon Hinkley chipped in two points apiece. Letts and Van Osdol both grabbed three rebounds, while Hobscheidt, Hinkley and Zimmer pulled down two boards apiece. Bell and Brennan Horak both had one rebound.
“We showed improvement in running our offense, but still need to work on guarding the opponent,” Berhow said.
Edward Stone defeated the Washington C team 30-10. Letts scored four points to lead the Demons (1-1), while Zimmer, Mario Tapia and Eric Sanchez chipped in two points apiece. Letts and Sanchez both grabbed five rebounds, and Zimmer had three. Sam Donnolly pulled down a pair of boards, and John Lisauskas had one rebound.
The Washington seventh-grade boys’ basketball team will next host Aldo Leopold on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
