Washington seventh-grade girls take three from Ottumwa

The Washington seventh-grade girls’ basketball team swept visiting Ottumwa on Feb. 4.

The Demon A team defeated the Bulldogs 33-18. Morgan Brinning had nine points, nine steals and seven rebounds to lead Washington (5-2), and Sarah Nacos added eight points, five steals and three boards. Brooke Stout had six points to go with 10 rebounds and two steals, and Megan Strabala had four points, two rebounds and a steal in the game. Megan Mitchell, Jessica Hora and Kaylee Enfield each chipped in two points. Mitchell and Kristen Twinam both had three rebounds and a steal in the contest, while Baylee Stalder, Allison Vogel and Reagan Caffery each pulled down a rebound.

The Washington B team edged Ottumwa 15-14 for its first win of the season. Twinam and Enfield scored four points apiece to lead the Demons (1-5-1). Twinam also had three rebounds and a steal in the game, and Enfield had a theft. Hora added three points and a steal, while Caffery and Emily Collier chipped in two points, a rebound and a steal apiece. Stalder pulled down three rebounds, and Michaela Hoffman had two rebounds and a steal. Makenna Rich and Erin Mills both had a rebound and a steal, and Tania Melendez grabbed a rebound.

The Washington C team defeated the Bulldogs 7-3 for its first win of the season. Mackenzie Beam had five points, five steals and three rebounds to lead the Demons (1-4), and Addison McGuire added two points and two steals. Savannah White pulled down a team-high four rebounds. Keira Gould had two rebounds and two steals in the game, and Alexis Edwards had two rebounds and a steal. Mills and Collier both chipped in a rebound, while Collier and Liliana Torres both had a steal.
