Washington snow, ice removal
The City of Washington would like to remind property owners that they are responsible for keeping their sidewalks free from snow and ice. The property owner and/or occupant of any building shall clear the public sidewalk of all snow and/or ice accumulation within 24 hours after the snow has ceased or ice formed. If the property owner and/or occupant fails to remove the ice and snow, the city may do so and the cost of the removal will be levied against the property. (City Ordinance-Chapter 53: Snow and Ice)
The city would also appreciate residents adopting a fire hydrant from which they will clear snow and ice.
