Washington’s Lauren Kimball and Sammy Ellingson have been selected to play in Saturday’s 19th annual Southeast Iowa Volleyball Classic at Fairfield High School.
Kimball and Ellingson were among 31 senior volleyball players selected from the Southeast Iowa Super Conference, the Southeast Conference and Burlington High School — 26 total high schools — to play in the all-star match.
Kimball, the daughter of Brad and Julia Kimball, led the Southeast Conference this season with 567 assists. She ranked eighth in the league in serving at 94.8 percent, and she had 24 aces. She also totaled 30 kills, 10 blocks and 141 digs this season for the Demons.
Ellingson, the daughter of Shawn and Stephanie Ellingson, ranked third in the Southeast Conference in serving at 96.9 percent, and she had 18 aces. Her 328 digs on the year ranked fifth in the SEC, and her 154 kills ranked 12th in the league.
Highland middle hitter Kelsey Doreo will also be playing in the event. Doreo, the daughter of Keith and Dawnell Doreo, ranked seventh in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division in blocks this season with 51. She served 88.5 percent, and her 58 aces ranked seventh in the conference. She also tallied 116 kills this season.
Doreo’s coach, Chris Rath, will be one of the coaches at this year’s Southeast Iowa Volleyball Classic. Rath guided the Huskies to a 16-16 record this fall.
The all-star match will begin at 7 p.m.
