Water Sharks win 25 races at Stoney Point
CEDAR RAPIDS — The Washington Community Y Water Sharks swimming team traveled to Cedar Rapids on Saturday for a meet at the Stoney Point YMCA. The Water Sharks won 25 races on the day.
Noah Bruns won three races individually. He won the 200 individual medley in the boys’ 12-21 age group, touching the wall in 2:36.09. He also won the 100 free (1:02.52) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.56) in the 13-14 age group. Bruns was also a member of the 15-21 200 free relay team, which also included Nicholas Todd, Jacob Miles and Owen Horak, that took first place in 2:03.93. Todd won the 100 breast in the boys’ 15-21 division in 1:25.23.
Hayden Westphal won a pair of races in the boys’ 11-12 age group. He won the 50 breaststroke in 42.97 seconds, and he took first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:36.71. Westphal also led off for the Water Sharks’ 11-12 200 free relay team, which also included Zachariah Parsons, Chandler Mullens and Quinn Wubbena, that took first place in 2:55.65.
Mullens won the 50 free in the boys’ 11-12 age group in 42.40 seconds. Parsons won the 100 back in 2:02.40.
Wubbena won the 50 breaststroke in the boys’ 9-10 age group in 51.91 seconds, and Reece Mayer won the 50 fly in 42.70 seconds. Both were members of the Water Sharks’ 9-10 200 medley relay team, which also included Collin Greiner and Noah Kleese, that took first place in 3:11.04.
Emily Adam won a pair of individual races in the girls’ 15-21 age group. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.96, and she took first place in the 200 breaststroke in 2:52.68. Adam also led off for the Water Sharks’ 15-21 200 free relay team, which also included Michaela Prihoda, Sarah Miles and Lyndsay Adrian, that took first place in 2:07.57.
Kyleigh Dolan won a pair of races in the girls’ 8-and-under division. She won the 25 back in 26 seconds, and she took first place in the 50 free in 48.65 seconds.
Alijah Beatty won one individual race and was a part of two winning relay teams. Beatty won the 200 individual medley in the girls’ 12-21 age group in 2:42.80. She also anchored the 13-14 200 medley relay team, which also included Alexis Read, Sarah Miles and Megan Adam, to a first-place finish in 2:15.12. Beatty led off for the 13-14 200 free relay team, which also included Alexis Rodgers, Megan Adam and Kayla Andrew, that won in 2:00.01.
Read won the 100 back in the 15-21 age group in 1:12.61, and Rodgers won the 200 free in 2:23.86.
Peyton Read won the 100 individual medley in the girls’ 11-12 age group in 1:19.30, while Audrey Wubbena won the 100 back in 1:23.92.
