Water Sharks win 35 races in Keokuk

KEOKUK — The Washington Community Y Water Sharks swim team won 35 races at a meet at the Hoerner YMCA in Keokuk on Feb. 2.

The Water Shark girls won 20 races. Emily Adam won three individual races and was a member of two winning relays. She won the 200 breaststroke (2:56.89) and the 400 individual medley (5:50.99) in the girls’ 12-21 division, and took first place in the 100 breaststroke in the 15-21 age group in 1:20.94. The 15-21 200 medley relay team of Alexis Rodgers, Adam, Lyndsay Adrian and Meredith Lumberg won in 2:19.83, and the quartet of Adam, Lumberg, Megan Arps and Adrian won the 15-21 200 free relay in 2:04.35.

Adrian also won the 200 free in the 15-21 age group in 2:28.25, and Lumberg won the 500 free in the 12-21 division in 7:18.11.

Kayla Andrew, Allison Vogel and Audrey Wubbena each won a pair of races in the girls’ 11-12 division. Vogel won the 50 free in 29.67 seconds and took first in the 100 free in 1:07.82. Wubbena won the 50 back in 36.02 seconds and took first in the 100 back in 1:21.13. And Andrew won the 50 butterfly in 32.95 seconds and claimed first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.60. Haylee Wilson took first place in the 50 breaststroke in the 11-12 age group in 38.53 seconds.

The 11-12 200 medley relay team of Wubbena, Wilson, Andrew and Vogel won in 2:19.51, and the 200 free relay team of Wubbena, Wilson, Claire Horak and Andrew took first place in 2:13.01.

Tattum Brown won the 100 back in the girls’ 13-14 division in 1:30.41, and Arps won the 100 breaststroke in 1:36.05. The quartet of Rodgers, Avery Blauvelt, Brown and Arps won the 200 free relay in 2:16.14.

Macy Driscoll took first place in the 50 back in the girls’ 9-10 age group in 46.43 seconds.

The Water Shark boys won 15 races. Jacob Miles won three races in the 15-21 age group and was a member of two winning relays. He won the 50 free (28.91), 100 back (1:27.44) and 100 breaststroke (1:33.72) individually. The 200 medley relay team of Miles, Owen Horak, Noah Bruns and Victor Miller won in 2:19.62, and the same quartet won the 200 free relay in 2:00.34.

Bruns also won three individual races. He won the 100 free (1:00.58) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.45) in the 13-14 age group, and he also took first place in the 200 individual medley in the 12-21 division in 2:31.91.

Michael Kimball won a pair of races in the boys’ 11-12 division, taking first place in both the 50 free (30.07) and the 200 free (2:38.74). He also anchored the 11-12 200 free relay, which also included T.J. Durst, Mitchell Driscoll and Grant Williams, to a first-place finish in 2:33.55.

Reece Mayer won the 50 butterfly in the boys’ 9-10 division in 41.78 seconds, and Quinn Wubbena won the 100 individual medley in 1:35.16. The quartet of Drew Blauvelt, Wubbena, Mayer and Noah Kleese won the 200 medley relay in 2:53.15.

Kevin Flannery won the 25 breaststroke in the boys’ 8-and-under age group in 34.22 seconds.
