WEEK of WIND Science Camp offered

Feb 11, 2013

Washington County Extension, 4-H and Lincoln Elementary are partnering together Feb. 25-28 to offer a four-day mini-science camp called WEEK of WIND. This camp is open to any fifth grade student who wants to experiment more with science, mechanical engineering and wind energy.

WEEK of WIND registrations are being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis until Feb. 15. There is a fee due with the registration form. Registration forms may be picked up and dropped off at Lincoln Elementary or the Washington County Extension Office.

During WEEK of WIND students will better understand common machines and diagram their mechanical functions, explore different materials and shapes to catch wind by designing sails for sail boats and windmill blades. Students will also take a field trip to visit a local wind turbine.

Please contact the Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811, with any questions about WEEK of WIND mini-camp or how to get involved with other 4-H/science activities.
