'Welcome to the Jungle' day camp held
Washington County Extension held a “Welcome to the Jungle” Day Camp on June 11 at Kalona City Park, on June 12 at Marr Park, and on June 13 at Hall Park in Riverside. This is the first year Riverside City Council has sponsored this camp to be held in Riverside. Twenty-eight children entering kindergarten in the fall learned about what it’s like to live in the jungle at these camps. The half-day camp was jampacked with fun and excitement.
The campers learned about jungle habitats, stripes and spots on animals used for camouflage, made their own jungle trees, and created a safari vest and binoculars. The day culminated in a jungle safari searching for animals and with some fun and games.
Leaders for the camp were Extension Staff Jodi Ebert and Kelsey Martins with help from members of the Washington 4-H County Council and Leadership Development Team.
