Wellman’s nitrite levels return to normal
According to the City of Wellman’s Web site, nitrite levels in the city’s water supply tested back within normal limits on Thursday, July 10.
The City of Wellman issued a drinking water warning after tests showed high levels of nitrites on July 3, which could have caused serious health issues for infants below the age of 6 months. Residents were told not to give infants under 6 months tap water until the issue was resolved. Adults and children older than 6 months could have drunk the tap water unless there were specific health concerns, such as pregnancy.
The city will continue to test the water’s nitrite levels to make sure they are maintained, the Web site said.
