West Chester UMW
The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church on May 8, 2013, with 11 members and one guest, Peg Egbert, attending. Each member introduced herself to Peg and told something about herself.
The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The treasurer reported that the mission pledge would be due in June. Education and Interpretation chairman Pat Dusenbery read about an IMS student who is involved with educating people on sexual violence.
Peg Egbert presented the program on Mumms. She recently retired from Mumms and hopes someone will take over the organization. She told interesting stories about her time with the work, started in 1996 as a Bible school at Mount Sterling. Peg started numerous Bible schools and Bible studies for children in the area, influencing and telling them how God can work in their lives. It was a very interesting program.
The next meeting will be June 12, when the group will travel to Cedar Rapids to the Matthew 25 Center, a neighborhood center for the needy, providing lunches, community gardens, and disaster help during and since the recent flood. Let Nancy Schmidt know if you would like to attend, and rides will be provided.
Jeaniene Dusenbery, Pat Dusenbery and Elmarie Capper served refreshments following the program.
