West Chester UMW
The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church on Dec. 11, 2013, for a 1 p.m. meeting. Five members and two guests, former members Joyce Clubb and Linda Leonard, were in attendance.
President Sharon Hahn opened the meeting with thoughts of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus and the many problems that affected their lives and how they overcame them; about how our lives are filled with problems; and advice not to worry about the small things and to trust in God to help us through the big and small ones.
Minutes of the November meeting were read, and the treasurer’s report was given. Both reports were approved.
The unit sends The Guidepost magazine to college students and working youth two years out of high school. The magazine was sent to Amanda Stout, Mathew Miksch and Tangier Miller.
A district executive meeting will be held at the West Chester church on Feb. 8, 2014. Coffee and rolls will be served as the group assembles, and also a noon lunch will be served.
After the business meeting, Marsha Patterson and Karen Hobbs served cookies and coffee. The group went caroling to the housebound, nursing home residents, and hospital patients. Ten people were visited, and a small gift was presented to each one.
There will be no meetings in January or February. The next meeting will be a sewing day on March 12.
