Neighbors Growing Together | Aug 27, 2014

West Chester UMW

May 19, 2014

The West Chester United Methodist Women met at 1:30 p.m., May 14, at the church.

Kelly Galiher and Susan Van Osdol of the Washington County Enrichment Foundation presented the program. They work with parents, or caregivers, and school staff from Mid-Prairie, Highland, WACO, and Washington school districts to assist the working poor and their families in Washington County. Their goal is to meet those needs not already met by other agencies, charities and churches, to keep the families together. It was an eye-opening program.

The unit voted to give a monetary donation to the Foundation.

President Sharon Hahn opened the business meeting by reading from Proverbs 3:5-7. The secretary’s and the treasurer’s reports were given. A motion was made to accept the reports as given. A thank-you note was read from Lending Hands for the chest napkins given to them after the sewing day in March.

Pat Dusenbery, Education and Interpretation chairman, used the Prayer Calendar and Response magazine to remember missionaries’ birthdays and articles pertaining to missions.

The unit decided to offer sack lunches for children in the community during the month of June and possibly July and August. Nancy Schmidt will coordinate the lunches.

The June meeting will be a sewing day to make school bags. Each person attending is asked to bring a sack lunch. Nancy Bowen and Carol Hough will furnish dessert.
