West Chester UMW
The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church at 9 a.m. on June 11 for a sewing day.
Six women met to sew school bags to be taken to Mount Pleasant in November for distribution to students in Third-World countries. They will be filled with school supplies by anyone wishing to fill them. Twelve were made, and Pat Dusenbery had made 13 previously, making a total of 25.
A sack lunch was enjoyed by those attending. Nancy Bowen and Carol Hough furnished drink and dessert.
Sharon Hahn, president, opened the business meeting by reading Proverbs 3:5-7.
The secretary’s and the treasurer’s reports were given, and both were approved. Pat Dusenbery, Education and Interpretation, reported on Mission Minutes from the Response magazine. Quilt sales in Great Plains, Illinois, and button art were sold for mission giving.
Sharon reported that two sack lunches were served on June 4, and two were served on June 11. Corrine Duvall prepared the lunches on June 4, and Beverly Zehr prepared the lunches on June 11. The lunches will continue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in June and possibly July and August.
The next meeting will be on Sept. 10, with a field trip to Des Moines, visiting Bidwell-Riverside and Hawthorn Hill Trinity. Pastor Marlene will make the arrangements.
