West Chester United Methodist Women
The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church on Sept. 11, with 13 members attending.
Sharon Hahn opened the business meeting by reading 2 Thessalonians 3:10 and offering prayer.
The minutes of the June meeting and the treasurer’s report were given and approved.
Nancy Schmidt will have a 2014 program-planning meeting at her home on Sept. 27. The standing rules will be discussed to see if any changes need to be made.
A memorial service was presented for Diane Bowser, Elmarie Capper, and Delores Griffith. The three will be missed.
A district meeting will be held in Washington on Sept. 14, and several are planning to attend. Doris Fisher and Corinne Duvall presented the list of officers for 2014. It was voted to accept the list as presented: President, Sharon Hahn; vice president, Nancy Schmidt; secretary, Jeaniene Dusenbery; treasurer, Doris Fisher; historian, Corinne Duvall; nominations, Doris Fisher and Corinne Duvall; Education and Interpretation, Pat Dusenbery; Spiritual Growth, Corinne Duvall; Membership Outreach, and Nurture, Sharon Hahn and Doris Fisher; co-chair of Cards, Dolly Combs; Winter Sewing, Beverly Zehr; Christmas Boxes, Pat Dusenbery and Doris Fisher.
It was voted to have the 109th Election Night supper. Anita Miller presented the program “Seeing Grace in Our Workers.” She used a biblical perspective to present the program. Dolly Combs, Janet Bauer and Carol Hough served refreshments to close the evening.
The next meeting will be Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the church, with Shy Conway speaking on “Domestic Violence Awareness.”
