West Chester United Methodist Women
The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church on Nov. 14, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., with 10 members attending.
President Janet Bauer opened the meeting by reading from the book “A Gift of Love.”
The secretary read the minutes of the October meeting, which were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given.
Vice president Nancy Schmidt passed out the new 2013 program books. She thanked everyone who came to the program-planning meeting. The 2013 UMW program book will be kept with the secretary.
Pat Dusenbery showed the crosses with a Nativity scene that will be given to shut-ins for Christmas. It was voted to give a $10 gift to missions for Harriet Orr, a member who resides in Bettendorf. Sharon Hahn reported on the funeral coffee that was held in memory of Doug Kiesey. About 25 friends and relatives attended.
The election night supper was discussed. The supper was very successful. The group ran out of food at the end of the evening. The attendance was about 250. The new elevator was used, which made it a lot easier for the handicapped to attend the supper.
Dolly Combs sent cards to several people this month.
Nancy Schmidt gave an interesting program titled “Take a Walk with Christ.” Everyone brought a slice of her favorite bread and told something interesting about it. Marsha Patterson and Jeaniene Dusenbery served a salad and used the bread for refreshments.
The afternoon closed with prayer.
