When is it time to not give thanks?
What a wonderful time of the year! Halloween is over and on Nov. 1 we turn into people who are looking for all kind of things to be thankful for. Now, I know that some people need special occasions to celebrate, birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, Christmas, etc.
Please understand that I am not trying to downplay the month of Thanksgiving! I am simply trying to help all of us understand that we can and should be able to find something or someone to be thankful for every single day of the year!
OK, I am probably getting old enough to really cherish so many of the people and events in my life which have impacted me, that I don’t want to forget any of that history. That history contains good things and bad things, good people and some not so good people and good decisions and bad decisions. Whether good or bad, all of these events have made me the person that I am today.
I want to share with you that every morning since August 1980, I have awakened to thank the God of the universe that He gave me a chance to become one of His children. In August of that year, I was confronted with the condition of my relationship with Him. I discovered that I was in trouble with Him because of sin in my life. Thankfully, someone had shared with me that God had sent His Son to die for me, and died to take care of my sin. I am thankful that I made the decision to take Christ into my life and to trust Him to do exactly what He has promised. He promised to be there for me for the rest of my life and for all eternity.
He makes that promise to be there for you too! Have you considered what your relationship with God is like today? Do you know where you will spend eternity?
So, my challenge for each one that reads this article is to make a conscious effort each and every day that God gives us breath, to give thanks for someone, for some event in your life. So who is with me?
