Washington County naturalist Pam Holz shows off a barred owl to a crowd in the Washington County Conservation Education Center Saturday afternoon. The bar owl is less than a year old. It injured its shoulder last May and thus it cannot be released into the wild. Holz said the average lifespan of a barred owl in the wild is three to four years, but it can live up to 15 years.
