William 'Bill' Clark Henry
William 'Bill' Clark Henry, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 at his home following a short battle with cancer in Kissimmee, Florida with his wife and son.
His childhood was spent in Oklahoma and Ohio before settling down in Salem. He was a 1970 graduate of Salem High School and a 1974 graduate of Southern Illinois University. He spent many years in the broadcasting business ending that career working for KBUR-KGRS in Burlington, Iowa as News Director. He then went into the insurance business owning his own agency before working for Conklin Insurance in Washington, Iowa. Bill continue to sell insurance while living in Florida. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Orlando and was attending First Baptist Church in Kissimmee and was very involved in his walk as a Christian. He loved playing golf and even started a junior golf program while in Washington, Iowa. His second job was being a sports official. He officiated softball, baseball, volleyball, basketball, and football on the high school level and also did football on the small college level. When he moved to Florida he had given up officiating, but had decided to get back into football as he loved and missed it. He was in the midst of the Florida high school football season when he was diagnosed. Bill was a loving caregiver to his wife during her battle with cancer as well as his mother-in-law until her passing. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Oklahoma Sooners fan.
