William J. “Bill” Conner 91, of Hillsboro passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic in Iowa City.

A celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt., Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Champion Hill Cemetery rural Wellman. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Bill was born on March 10, 1926, in Williamsburg, Iowa the son of Lloyd and Edith Walters Conner. He was united in marriage to Nina “Evelyn” McDowell on October 27, 1951, in Kahoka, Missouri, she preceded him in death on August 8, 2015. Bill served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Bill worked for several years at Goodyear in Mt. Pleasant, he had a passion for horses and all animals. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and spending time with friends at Hy-Vee.

He is survived by his daughters: Tracy Richenberger of Wellman and Linda Conner Hernandez of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Raymond Conner of Pittsburg, California; his brother-in-law James (Carole) McDowell of Salem.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister Carole Carns, his son-in-law Duran Richenberger and his sister-in-law Rachael Bleakley.
