Yarn bombing is a benign feminist version of graffiti art which seeks to leave a personal mark on the everyday world. This is the second group effort in Washington. This past winter, needleworkers wrapped selected trees around the square with tree sweaters.
This is an international movement and knitters and crocheters have covered statues, buses, bicycle racks and shelters where passengers wait for city buses.
