The Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington will have its annual Live Animal Christmas Play this weekend.

There will be four performances open for the public to attend, said Marion Avenue Baptist Church Pastor Joseph Brown. They will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

This has become a Christmas tradition for the church members, Brown said. He even played the baby Jesus 30 years ago in the play.

“There are over 300 church members involved in the Live Animal Christmas Play,” Brown said. “Some people take vacation just to be a part of the play.”

The play will tell the story of Christmas through music and drama. Animals will also be a part of the performances. Some animals featured in the play include camels, reindeer, llamas, sheep, goats, cows, donkeys, and many more, according to the press release.

Brown hopes people come and enjoy themselves at one of the performances this weekend. He also hopes people feel the love of Christ and learn about Christ’s forgiveness.
