Arrests

Jacqueline Rada Setser, 41, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested Monday night in the 100 block of East Clay Street in Mount Pleasant on a Washington County Iowa State Patrol warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while license under suspension.

Randon Wiliam Lee Robbins, 27, of Ottumwa was arrested Monday night in the 400 block of North Third in Burlington on a Washington County warrant for assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

Traffic accident

An officer reported being out with a minor traffic accident. An additional officer responded. Information was exchanged. Damage was under $1,500. Ileia Skye Kraft of Washington was cited for failure to stop in a safe assured clear distance.

A caller Monday evening in the 1600 block of 130th Street in Wellman reported a traffic accident with no injuries. The caller called back advising she was sick and vomiting. Wellman QRS and an ambulance responded. The ambulance transported a patient to Washington County Hospital in Washington. The vehicle was towed. Damages were under $1,500. Mary Elizabeth Hyndman of Wellman was cited for no insurance accident-related.

Traffic other

A caller Monday evening at 200th Street and Riverside Road in Washington reported locating a vehicle in the ditch. An officer advised that a farmer removed the vehicle.

A caller Monday night in the 3100 block of 115th Street in Riverside reported a 7-year-old was driving a four-wheeler up and down the gravel roadway. An officer responded and spoke with subjects, advising them they were not allowed to ride out on the roadway with the four-wheeler.

Disabled vehicles

Henry County reported taking a call, Monday afternoon, for a SEI bus with a flat tire, needing traffic control due to the heavy traffic. A Washington County officer responded and assisted.

A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 218 and the Highway 22 ramp in Riverside reported a disabled vehicle in the roadway. An officer responded and was able to get the vehicle onto the side of the road and put orange tape on it. The driver was advised she had 24 hours to move the vehicle.

Fire calls

A caller Monday morning in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Riverside reported their car was on fire right out in front of the house. An officer and Riverside Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.

A caller Monday night in the 2700 block of 135th Street in Riverside reported something was on fire west of Riverside Road. Also, Riverside Fire received a report from a third party that it was a house on fire, fully engulfed. An officer and Riverside Fire Department responded. When they were on the scene, the officer advised that the fire was a controlled burn.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday morning at Highway 1 and 150th Street in Kalona reported a deer on the side of the roadway that needed attention. An officer responded and was unable to locate the animal.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 300 block of North Avenue B in Washington reported a bat in her residence. An officer responded and assisted with removing the bat.

Barking dog

A caller Monday afternoon in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a dog barking in the alley for the past three hours. The dog was a German shepherd. An officer responded and made contact with the owner. She was going to take the dog inside.

Burglary

A caller Monday morning in the 700 block of 12th Street in Kalona reported that someone took his wife’s wallet from the van overnight. An officer was advised. Two Social Security cards were entered into the system.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 800 block of East Harrison Street in Washington reported a theft from his vehicle that occurred overnight. An officer spoke with the subject. A report will be filed.

DP & Q

An officer received a complaint of a resident burning something in the yard that they should not be, Monday night in the 500 block of East 15th Street in Washington. The officer spoke with the residents, and they agreed to put out the fire.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Monday afternoon in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported threats toward administration via text messages. Four officers responded. Documentation was made for the time being. The subject was leaving the building without incident.

A caller Monday evening in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer regarding an incident with a customer. An officer spoke with all parties involved. The customer thought a rude comment had been made toward her. All was a misunderstanding.

Motor vehicle theft

An officer reported he was out with a stolen vehicle from Kalona, Monday afternoon in the 20 block of East First Street in Des Moines. A Washington County officer was advised. The vehicle was cleared from the system.

Runaways/missing person

A caller Monday morning in the 700 block of West Third Street in Washington reported his 13-year-old daughter had been gone for approximately eight hours, and was last seen wearing a blue soccer sweatshirt. An officer responded and spoke with the father, who stated he had just spoken with his daughter on the phone and she was returning home.

Suspicious activity

A caller Tuesday morning in the 700 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a suspicious male wearing a black hoodie and black basketball shorts walking eastbound in and out of the alley. Officers responded. Everything was OK. The subject was a neighbor who lived in that area.

Tobacco violations

An officer reported witnessing a juvenile smoking a cigarette while walking down the street, Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington. The officer spoke with the juvenile and his mother. The juvenile was cited for possession of tobacco under the legal age.

Trespass

A caller Monday morning in the 100 block of West H Avenue in Kalona reported a customer came into the store who was no longer allowed there. An officer responded and spoke to the manager, who advised they would have a letter of “No Trespass” typed up for the sheriff’s office. Documentation was made.

Welfare check

A caller Tuesday morning in the 3200 block of 185th Street in Ainsworth requested a welfare check on a male subject who had not been in contact much with family in the past couple of weeks. He made concerning comments during the evening. Officers responded. The male subject was intoxicated but was in good spirits. He planned to contact the reporting party and let her know he was OK.

All other theft

A caller Monday morning in the 1700 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a theft. The incident is under investigation.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that an elderly female driver had  left, heading westbound, a few minutes earlier without paying for $27.04 in gas. City units were advised, and Van Buren County made contact with the female subject. She was going to have someone go back and pay.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Highland Avenue in Washington reported theft from a vehicle. The vehicle was parked at the residence and unlocked. Loose change was stolen.

A caller Monday night in the 900 block of South Avenue D in Washington reported theft of items from three different vehicles at the residence. The vehicles were unlocked. One vehicle had $120 stolen from it, another vehicle had $35 stolen, and the third vehicle had nothing stolen.
