Arrests

Thomas Niles Pruitt Jr., 41, of Burlington, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 800 block of East Columbus Street in Crawfordsville on charges of assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts, driving while license under suspension, no proof of insurance, and invoked implied consent for refusal to provide a sample. Further charges are pending. The subject was also wanted out of Burlington for failure to appear on initial appearance for driving under suspension.

Enner Isabel Mendez Lopez, 40, of Washington was arrested Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in Washington on charges of domestic abuse, simple assault, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 200 block of South Wiley Boulevard in Washington reported a traffic accident. Two officers responded. A towing company was contacted to tow one vehicle. The other vehicle was drivable after removal of a bumper. Damage amounted to more than $1,500, with a minor personal injury, and a state report will be filed. Jerrica Luke, of Washington, was cited for failure to yield to traffic control device.

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported backing out of a parking space in their white Town and Country Caravan. They backed into another vehicle, which left the scene. Damage was under $1,500. Information was exchanged.

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday morning at H Avenue and Sixth Street in Kalona reported a vehicle that had not been moved for several days on H Avenue. It was a Buick Century without any plates. An officer made contact with the owner, and he was advised on the 24-hour parking policy.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a white Chevrolet S10 was parked partially blocking a driveway. An officer responded. The subject parked the vehicle there to take another vehicle to work. A parking citation was issued.

Disabled vehicles

A caller Wednesday morning at Spruce Avenue and 260th Street in Washington reported that his white Honda was broken down. An officer responded and gave the subject a ride to town. The vehicle was added to the system.

Fire calls

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported a residential fire alarm and smoke alarm Zone 11. The caller was unsure what area of the house that was in, and had not spoken with the homeowner. An officer spoke on private branch exchange with the homeowner, who advised that everything was OK in the residence and she did not need anyone to respond. Washington Fire and city units were disregarded.

Animal complaint

A subject Tuesday afternoon in the 2700 block of Airport Road in Washington reported a problem with a dog running in the area. The subject was advised to call in when the dog was loose and running around in the area.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1600 block of Orange Avenue in Riverside reported a deer was injured with a tractor and needed to be put down. An officer responded and took care of the deer.

Assault

A caller Tuesday morning in the 800 block of Eighth Street in Kalona reported that their 13-year-old daughter assaulted them. An officer responded. No assault occurred; the juvenile was throwing items at the parents before the deputy’s arrival. The juvenile had calmed down before the deputy’s arrival, as well.

Burglary

A caller Tuesday night in the 700 block of East Third Street in Washington reported missing medications. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

Disorderly conduct

Dispatch received a call for assistance for a subject, Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington. Four officers responded. The problem was resolved.

Fraud

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 700 block of South 10th Avenue in Washington requested to speak to an officer about a possible counterfeit $20 bill. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

Suspicious activity

A caller Tuesday night in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington reported that someone tied a balloon to the door and knocked, and requested an officer. An officer responded. Subjects were playing a prank.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 100 block of South Main Street in Crawfordsville reported a front door was open with a light on, and it appeared that no one was around. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate any open doors. Everything appeared to be OK in the area.

Vandalism

An officer reported noticing damage to a mailbox, Tuesday night in the 1500 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington. It appeared that a white car drove off the roadway and ran over the mailbox.  Documentation was taken for the time being.

Welfare check

A caller Tuesday morning in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington requested a welfare check on a tenant he could not reach by phone. An ambulance responded. No one was home at the residence.

All other theft

A caller Tuesday evening in the 1000 block of East Main Street in Washington reported the theft of a 100-foot chain link fence that was rolled up in his front yard. It was taken sometime during that day. Documentation was made.

A caller Tuesday night in the 900 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported his mother’s navy blue mountain bicycle was taken from his residence. It had wide tires and was last seen two hours earlier. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday noon in the 700 block of East Third Street in Washington reported locating a bicycle at his residence. It was a green Huffy Helios 21-speed bike, and was taken to the bike shed.
