Arrests

Catherine Louise Swalley, 39, of Wellman, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on two Washington County warrants – the first, for failure to appear for mittimus on an original charge of operating a motor vehicle while license was barred, and the second for failure to appear for mittimus on original charges of operating a motor vehicle while license was barred and possession of methamphetamine, first offense.

Traffic accident

A caller Monday morning in the 1300 block of Riverside Road in Riverside reported hitting a deer. The vehicle was drivable although the deer was injured. There was a large dent in the door. An officer responded and took care of the deer.

A caller Monday morning in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth reported a subject in the emergency room was involved in an accident on G36 earlier that morning, and requested a deputy. An officer spoke with the driver. A state report will be filed. The vehicle was left at the scene.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Monday afternoon at First Street and E Avenue in Kalona. At least one subject was injured. The vehicles were not drivable. Charges are pending on one subject for improper use of lanes. Yuel Gillion, of Hiawatha, was cited for no insurance accident-related and expired driver’s license. Both vehicles were towed, to be released at the time the tow bills are paid. Damages were over $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed.

A caller Monday afternoon at 180th Street and Tulip Avenue in Ainsworth reported a white car in the ditch. No one was around. It appeared that the accident had occurred the previous night at about 7:45 p.m. Documentation only was made.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1000 block of Vine Avenue in Riverside reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries, between a dump truck and a maroon Hyundai Accent (not drivable, with front driver’s side fender/tire damage). The roadway was not blocked. An officer responded. One vehicle was towed. A state accident report will be filed.

Fire calls

Dispatch received a report of a controlled burn that had gotten out of control, Monday afternoon in the 2500 block of Vine Avenue in Ainsworth. Ainsworth Fire and Washington Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday morning at Ginkgo Avenue and 120th Street in Wellman reported a deceased deer in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer.

A caller Monday morning in the 900 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported that her neighbor’s dog was in her driveway, and requested an officer. The dog was taken to the dog pound. The owner was notified of where she could pick up the dog and what the city ordinance was.

A caller Monday night at Highway 218 and 335th Street in Crawfordsville reported cows out standing in the ditch. An officer and the Crawfordsville Fire chief responded and located four cows.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported her neighbor was having a bonfire and playing loud music. An officer responded and spoke with them. They advised they would turn down the music.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Monday night in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue reported harassment after school. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

Search warrant

An officer reported executing a search warrant, Monday afternoon in the 400 block of West Main Street in Washington. The search warrant was executed.

Vandalism

A caller Monday afternoon in the 500 block of South Mechanic Street in Brighton reported his neighbor shot his garage door with an arrow. An officer spoke with the caller. This had occurred the previous night. He planned to make contact with the neighbor who did it, by accident, and make arrangements for him to pay for the damage.

Welfare check

A caller Monday morning in the 400 block of Sixth Avenue in Wellman requested a welfare check on a subject who didn’t show up to work at her residence that morning. The caller located the subject before the deputy’s arrival. There was no problem.

A welfare check was reported on a subject, Monday afternoon in the 900 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. An officer responded and spoke to the subject. He was fine.

All other theft

A caller Monday afternoon in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported an employee who admitted that she stole $185 from the business. The caller was requesting to press charges. An officer responded. Charges are pending. A report will be filed.

A caller Monday evening in the 1000 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a theft. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A deputy reported doing a mittimus interview on a subject arrested for failure to appear for their mittimus, Monday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Charges are pending. A report will be filed.

A caller Monday night in the 1100 block of Oriole Drive in Kalona reported violation of a no-contact order. An officer spoke to the caller, who planned to email him some documents on this violation for review.

A scooter was reportedly taken to the bike shed, Tuesday morning in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington. It was a red-and-white X-Games Lowdown Kick Scooter with Serial No. LF00117071. An officer took the scooter to the bike shed.
