4-H County Council sponsoring IJBBA Open Cattle Show

Feb 26, 2014

Washington County 4-H County Council will be sponsoring an IJBBA sanctioned open cattle show on Saturday, April 19, at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This event is open to youth of all ages up to age 21. To exhibit at this show, there are no requirements to be a member of the IJBBA or a member of 4-H. However, members of the IJBBA will receive points. This is a great opportunity for youth to compete against youth from other counties, work more with their cattle, gain experience and have fun.

Check-in will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The show will begin at 11 a.m. Those who register by April 1, will pay a lower entry fee than those who wait until after April 1.   Pre-registration guarantees one T-shirt per exhibitor. Make checks payable to Washington County Extension Office, 2223 250th St. Washington, IA 52353. Supreme Champion will receive $250 and Reserve Champion will receive $150 for both market and breeding animals. All first- through third-place in the class will have cash awards.

Health papers are required on all animals. If intending to show in a breed division registration papers are required. Generators are recommended, but not required. In conjunction with this event will be a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. in the basement at the Extension Office.

If you would like to register, donate to the event or have any additional questions please contact, Harry Walker, 319-461-1458 or Amy Green 319-653-4811. Registration forms are available at <http://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington/news>.
