4-H Fire Up sparks all kinds of excitement

Photo by: Washington County 4-H New “fired-up” 4-H’ers gathered around County Council member Zeb Fisher, the son of Duane and Vicky Fisher of West Chester, as he introduced his special guest – a 2-day-old goat. Fisher has shown goats for many years and answered many questions about the goat project area while at the new member Fire Up event.

The 4-H County Council and the Extension Office sponsored a 4-H Fire Up workshop on Sunday, Feb. 10, for new Washington County 4-H’ers to learn more about 4-H. Everyone left fired up to begin projects and teach others.

Each family received a 4-H handbook with general 4-H information, project ideas, important dates, the how-to-do of goal writing and record keeping, and more. 4-H’ers participated in a working exhibit led by Montana Hart of the Kalona Klassics. Ty Stender of the Bows and Bullets led a presentation about how to give a presentation. New members also learned about a range of project areas and opportunities 4-H has to offer through presentations from County Council members.
